Topics covered include Safety, Roofing Insights, Why a System, and the Most Common Problems associated with GAF shingle systems, ensuring attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of the technology’s application and challenges. Focusing on Safety, the course highlights proper handling and installation techniques to minimize workplace risks, such as falls or material mishandling, which are critical in roofing projects. Roofing Insights delves into the technical advantages of GAF’s integrated system approach, emphasizing how components like underlayments, ventilation, and shingles work together to enhance durability and performance.

The Why A System segment explains the importance of using a complete GAF system to ensure compatibility and warranty compliance, avoiding issues from mixing incompatible materials. Finally, the Most Common Problems section addresses frequent challenges, such as improper installation leading to leaks, wind uplift failures due to inadequate fastening, and premature shingle degradation from poor ventilation. By tackling these issues, Brooks will equip attendees with the knowledge to prevent costly errors and deliver high-quality roofing solutions.

With 21 years of professional roofing industry experience, including 7 years in roofing distribution and 14 years in manufacturing, Brooks brings unparalleled expertise to this course. As a current ORCA Board member and long-time member/supporter, he provides practical insights into the design, installation, and maintenance of GAF shingle systems. This class, exclusive to ORCA members, awards three Continuing Education credits to each registered attendee, emphasizing the importance of staying current with industry standards and best practices.
